You may have seen and heard A.J. in episodes of the new History Channel TV series, “World War II with Tom Hanks.” Or in an episode of “Jay Leno’s Garage.” Or in the movie “The 24 Hour War.” Or on numerous NPR programs. Or on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, one-on-one with C-Span founder Brian Lamb, or at numerous appearances at the Truman Presidential Library & Museum, the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library & Museum, the National WWII Museum in New Orleans, the Truman Little White House in Key West, the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, the Truman Library Institute, the Pritzker Military Museum in Chicago, the Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library, the Chicago Literary Festival, the Yankee Air Museum, and many other places.
A.J. served as a keynote speaker at the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library & Museum’s annual “Wild About Harry” fundraiser, an honor he has shared with David McCullough and Madeleine Albright. He has also appeared on Zoom at countless small book club meetings to talk about his books, leadership, and how literature can be a time machine.
